This course will provide you with the information needed to identify, assess, and control non-ionizing radiation hazards. Topics will include relevant standards and safety program elements associated with radiofrequency/microwave emitters, static and extremely low frequency (ELF) fields, ultraviolet light sources, and lasers. In addition, the variety of measurement equipment used to assess non-ionizing radiation levels – and the standards for proper use - will be discussed. Finally, examples of real-world NIR problems and solutions will be presented for the different types of NIR sources covered by the agenda.
