Shipping Radioactive Material

Overview

This special 1-day class is for people responsible for shipping radioactive materials for: Research, nuclear medicine, specific and broad scope licensees, portable gauges or sources, and decommissioning sites.

It will be held on Thursday, June 4, at Stanford University.

The class is designed to train employees in the requirements of the Department of Transportation as specified by 49 CFR 172 Subpart H, and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in 10 CFR 71.5.

All HAZMAT employees need to be aware of these regulations for shipping radioactive material!

The class also reviews rules for shipping radioactive materials by air in accordance with ICAO/IATA requirements.

Cost: $395 per person

Included: 500-page manual, including pertinent regulations and other helpful information

Meals: Morning and afternoon snacks will be provided. Lunch may be purchased at nearby locations on campus.

Continuing Education: Certified Health Physicists (CHPs) may use this course to request up to 16 continuing education credits for re-certification.

3:30  Conveyance by Passenger Aircraft, Highway, Driver Training, Registration, Incident Reporting, Low-Level Radioactive Waste

4:30  Written Exam

5:00  Review of Exam, Adjourn
